Did you know that eligible Alberta seniors may qualify for up to $1,412 per year to help with housekeeping, lawn mowing, and snow removal?

With winter approaching, keeping up with seasonal home maintenance can become challenging, especially for seniors experiencing mobility limitations or health concerns.

The good news? Alberta has a program that may help!

What is the Special Needs Assistance for Seniors program?

The Government of Alberta offers financial assistance to eligible low-income seniors aged 65 and older through its Special Needs Assistance for Seniors program.

Eligible services include:

  • ❄️ Snow removal: Keeping walkways and driveways clear during Alberta's winter months.

  • 🌿 Lawn maintenance: Grass cutting during the warmer seasons.

  • 🏡 Light housekeeping: Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and bathroom cleaning.

Eligible seniors may receive up to $1,412 per benefit year toward these services, depending on their circumstances and program approval.

Who qualifies?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are 65 years of age or older.

  • Meet Alberta's income and residency requirements.

  • Have a health condition or mobility limitation that prevents you (and your spouse, if applicable) from completing these tasks.

Additional eligibility rules apply, and a medical note may be required.
